Expertise and Research Interests

Dr. Kaufman is a physician-epidemiologist, board-certified in internal medicine and occupational medicine. His current research activities fall into two areas:
Environmental and occupational factors in cardiovascular disease
Occupational and environmental asthma

His research program includes both an epidemiologic focus and an experimental focus, and fosters collaboration between the disciplines of epidemiology, exposure assessment, occupational and environmental medicine, and inhalation toxicology.

Large-scale epidemiologic research on cardiovascular disease and ambient air pollution
Experimental studies of diesel exhaust exposure and vascular structure and function
