Expertise and Research Interests

Director of Statistical Center for Acute/Early HIV Infection Network (AIEDRP). Supervise management and
analysis of data from studies of Acute and Early HIV Infection. Responsible for both Seattle unit and the core network which includes seven additional units. Serve on the AIEDRP Executive Committee and chair the AIEDRP Data Base working group.

Conduct research using differential and difference equations to model the biology of HIV and the immune system. Includes development of statistical methods for parameter estimation in models of this type.

Lead statistician on a variety of studies of methods for preventing HIV transmission and studies of early infection with HIV and pediatric HIV.

Hire and supervise masters level statisticians, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students who assist with statistical support for SCHARP studies and mathematical modeling projects.
