Expertise and Research Interests

My current research interest is autobiographical theory. My book on autobiographies, "This Stubborn Self," was published by Texas Christian University Press in 2002. I also have a passion for archival research and have worked extensively at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center (University of Texas) on British poets of the 1930s and on my critical biography, "William Humphrey, Destroyer of Myths," ( U. of North Texas Press, 1998). I have written essays on Richard Bausch, William Humphrey, Mary Karr, Pat Mora, Li-Young Lee, C. D. Wright, Frank Conroy, Eva Hoffman, and Naomi Shihab Nye for the Scribner's American Writers Series.

Future Research

I'm planning a book on Mexican American autobiographies.
