Expertise and Research Interests

I am interested in nosocomial infections in infants and children. I am interested in the changing microbiology of neonatal infections and risk factors for the development of neonatal sepsis. I am currently involved in projects relating to infection surveillance in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as well as studies looking at transmission of microorganisms in the NICU including risk factors for the development of infections due to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. As a faculty member of the Emerging Infections Program, a collaborative program with the CDC, I was involved in studies of neonatal sepsis in the State of COnnecticut and the project on Unexplained Severe Pneumonia.

Currently we are investigating the protection afforded by influenza vaccine in children.
