Expertise and Research InterestsThe majority of my time is spent as a clinician, treating patients with problems related to trauma. In addition to routine fractures, our service is geared towards the more complex injuries and their sequelae (nonunions, malunions, infection).Residents rotate onto the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at three separate periods during their training. They are exposed to a wide range of clinical material. Our subspecialty didactic program ensures that an adequate fund of knowledge is gained within orthopaedic traumatology. Analysis of all treatment options, thorough preoperative surgical planning, and high surgical volume are hallmarks of the service. My research interests parallel those of my clinical efforts. A retrospective evaluation of hip fracture fixation allowed us to identify a new and potentially valuable measurement of implant position (see figure). This study served as the foundation for alarge, randomized, prospective outcome study comparing different techniques of hip fracture fixation that is in its third year. Other clinical and basic science projects are ongoing and available. KeywordsCOS Keywords:Orthopedics, Trauma.Additional Terms:Bone Fractures, Orthopaedics.Publications
