Expertise and Research Interests

Current research focuses on the anti-tumor response induced in patients with cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) through reinfusion of photoinactivated autologous leukocytes. Both human studies and murine models are being used to dissect the mechanism(s) ofthis form of therapy. Present studies involve: 1. Cloning of CD8 effector cells from CTCL patients and evaluation of their cytolytic capacity using autologous B lymphoblasts sensitized with peptides eluted from the class I MHC of the tumor cells. 2. Murine studies of immunoprotection against photoinactivated tumor cells. 3. Murine studies of modulation of the immune response through phototherapy. 4. Molecular studies of the role of heat shock protein in peptide presentation in CTCL. 5. Studies of signal transduction in CTCL lymphocytes.
