Expertise and Research Interests

My research interests include the sociology of prescribing and medicine-taking, communication between patients and health care professionals, the use of complementary and alternative medicine, and the synthesis of qualitative research. I am also interested in the involvement of service users and carers in research and in clinical practice. I am a collaborator on the Peninsula Collaboration for Leadership in Health Research and Care (PenCLAHRC) in the South West Peninsula in England. This is a £10 million grant from the National Institute of Health Research, running from October 2008 - September 2013. Within PenCLAHRC, I am leading the Patient and Public Involvement activity and the internal evaluation.
