Expertise and Research Interests

My laboratory focuses on the progression of chronic renal disease and the cellular and hemodynamic mechanisms responsible for this progression. We are particularly interested in intrarenal hemodynamics and systemic hypertension.

Representative Key Words: renal pharmacology, renal physiology, renal hemodynamics, micropuncture, post-prandial hyperfiltration, progressive renal injury, renal failure, glonerulosclerosis, renal function, diabetes mellitus, dogs, veterinary medicine, diet and renal disease, dietary protein, dietary, radiotelemetry.

Other Expertise

Academic Experience:
Board Certified, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Beecham Research Award - 1991
University of Georgia Research Medal - 1997

Business Experience:
Board of Directors - National Pet Supply Company
Board Certified; Internal Medicine

Future Research

Future research will focus primarily on molecular and hemodynamic mechanisms contributing to renal fibrosis and glomerulosclerosis.

Industrial Relevance

Research conducted in my laboratory has provided insight into novel nutritional and pharmaceutical approaches to the tretment of systemic hypertension and renal disease, fostering industrial interest, support, and development in these areas.
