Expertise and Research Interests

Dr. Shore is interested in the impact of health and illness states on the family. She received an NRSA award to study maternal adaptation to childhood epilepsy as part of her doctoral program. She has recently concluded a study to test the efficacy of the Seizures and Epilepsy Education program in improving quality of life for youth who have epilepsy, as well as their parents. Dr. Shore is also conducting a pilot study investigating the relationship between bone turnover and homocysteine levels in young women on levetiracetam. She is interested in investigating other relationships among neuroendocrine functions and antiepileptic medications, as well as the relationship between child behavior problems and parental adaptation in families having a child with epilepsy.
