Expertise and Research Interests

Our research aims to identify and characterize new regulatory peptides and their receptors.

Our research focuses on regulatory peptides of the endocrine and nervous systems. We are studying how peptides of the gut and brain coordinate the physiology of insects, including digestion and related processes. To understand functional systems, we examine both peptide-producing tissues, by immunological, biochemical, and molecular techniques, and their physiological targets, by bioassay and characterization of receptors. We use bioinformatic approaches to identify insect genes and molecular biology to express genes for functional assays.
