Expertise and Research InterestsSince joining the Dartmouth Medical School faculty in 1988, Dr. Goodman's primary research interest is in the use of administrative data sets to study regional variation in medical care resources. Dr. Goodman is an investigator at the Center for Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth (John Wennberg, director) and a member of the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care editorial board.
Dr. Goodman has developed novel methods in small area analysis to measure and understand the physician workforce, including detailed studies of primary care and neonatology. The results of these studies have been presented in the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care and journal publications.
Dr. Goodman is a pediatric allergist and has applied similar methods toward measuring the delivery of health care to children with asthma.
