Expertise and Research Interests

My recent research focuses on the application of information technology, particularly the G.I.S. and spatial statistics, in the improvement of health surveillance systems and solutions for health disparities. Our team completed several public health preparedness/health disparities projects funded by the federal, state, and county health agencies. I completed an Asian American Health needs assessement in 7 Asian communities, and a Hepatitis B screening and education research in 9 Asian communities in Maryland. Both are the largest (in terms of diverse groups) health studies of its kind in the U.S. Asian community. My recent research interest include modeling of composite index to detect and quantify health disparities.
