Primary Expertise:
- Over two decades as a leader in the integration of emerging technologies in teaching and learning
- A noted theorist and practitioner in the field of transformational/systemic change in education
- A pioneer in the development of the World Wide Web as an instructional environment
- Bridge the gap between technologists, administrators, and other stakeholders in educational settings
- Research and teach strategies for integrating advances in pedagogy and technology across the curriculum
- Advise senior leaders at local and Defense Department levels in forging innovative partnerships for learning with academic, corporate, and other government entities

Secondary Expertise:
- Over two decades as a national security professional in Army and Joint organizations
- Teach and conduct research focusing on military operations as an instrument of national policy, defense transformation, and the future of armed conflict

Other Expertise

Almost a decade as a program evaluator in military education and training settings. Designed a comprehensive institutional evaluation strategy for a major U.S. Army training school. Assisted the Command Group in implementing the Army Performance Improvement Criteria; developed organizational performance measures. Designed and published feedback products to assist faculty and leaders in quality assurance for military education and training.

Future Research

1. Civic Education as a means of building citizen participation in the public discourse surrounding the decision to employ military force in pursuit of national policy objectives
2. Level 5 (societal benefit or "meta-organizational" performance improvement) evaluation of educational institutions and programs; applicability of military planning models to the orchestration of organizational/systems change in generalized settings; organization and employment of U.S. or coalition forces in Stability, Support, Transition, and Reconstruction (SSTR) operations.
3. Innovation, risk-taking, and strategic advantage

Industrial Relevance

Civic Education research may strengthen the ties between national and international security systems, the people, and defense industries. Innovation work offers insights especially in Human Resources Development and Strategic Planning. Findings regarding "Revolutions in Military Affairs" may have parallel implications for the Revolution in Business Affairs.
