D.V.M., Auburn University, 1994.

Expertise and Research Interests

Due to expertise in animal reproduction and virology, my research interests are viruses that depend on natural or assisted mammalian reproduction to achieve transmission. Past work has focused on bovine pathogens including bovine viral diarrhea virus, a Flavivirus, and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, a Herpes virus. Recent research includes epidemiology of viruses and validation of novel antiviral agents.

Other Expertise

Through clinical experience, I have gained expertise in advanced reproductive techniques of cattle. These techniques include production of in vivo- and in vitro-derived bovine embryos and establishing cell lines for production of cloned cattle.

Industrial Relevance

My research serves agricultural industries and commercial entities that implement advanced reproductive techniques of cattle. Research is focused to clearly discern the potential for transmission of reproductive pathogens via natural and assisted reproduction and to develop and validate control strategies of minimal constraint that would prevent transmission of pathogens between farms, communities, states, regions or nations.
