Expertise and Research Interests

The goals of my current research efforts are to determine the role of respiratory viruses as causes of infections with serious consequences (hospitalization) - particularly for patients with underlying conditions - an to evaluate methods for control of these infections. Live attenuated influenza vaccines are in process of evaluation as a means of controlling infections in children. Maternal immunization is being explored as an approach to control serious infections of the neonate and early infancy.
