Expertise and Research Interests

I am a radiation oncologist with a particular interest in head and neck cancer. All aspects of head and neck cancer are of interest to me, including radiation, surgery, chemotherapy, dentistry, nutrition, social services support, and cancer prevention. Clinical focus centers on the use of accelerated hyperfractionated radiation therapy schedules which improves tumor control rates and diminishes long term toxicities. My lab research involves the in vitro and in vivo investigations of human squamus cell carcinoma growth characteristics. This includes evaluation of head and neck tumor growth kinetics, radiosensitivity, and clongen repoularion following therapeutic intervention. Agents which affect these parameters are studied in the laboratory and in the clinic. I have also developed an increased interest in smoking cessation programs and chemoprevention studies.
