Qualifications

Ph.D., University of Washington, Statistics, 1995.

Expertise and Research Interests

My main research interests focus on developing statistical, probabilistic, and computational methods for genetic and genomic data analysis, bioinformatics, and computational biology. I have developed improved linkage and association analysis methods for mapping genes for complex human diseases. I am currently developing statistical methods for analysis of micorarray time course gene expression data, methods for linking high-throughput genomic data such as microarray gene expression data and array CGH data to censored survival data and methods for inferences of genetic networks.

Other Expertise

I am currently working on genetic studies of several autoimmune diseases.

Future Research

Mapping genes by studying recently mixed populations
Statistical methods for identifying regulartory elements in both coding and non-coding regions
Gene regulatoty networks by intergrating different sources of genetic and genomic data

Industrial Relevance

Drug discovery and disease diagnosis
