Infants' biobehavioral responses and health outcomes
Gene variants and neurobehavioral regulation

Other Expertise

Academic Experience:
1990-Present Advanced Practice SIG Member, National Association of Neonatal Nurses

Future Research

The primary aim of this interdisciplinary program of research is toward understanding genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors that contribute to preterm infants' biobehavioral stress responses to handling in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This research addresses a significant problem for neonates who undergo multiple exposures to events likely to produce stress and pain. The impact of these exposures on short and long-term morbidities is unknown, and a focus of this proposed research.
