QualificationsM.D., University of Manitoba, 1954. Expertise and Research InterestsMy research involves a longitudinal study of coronary risk factors beginning in school-age children and progressing through adult life. This study has involved the early measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, lipids, lipoproteins, and apoproteins; the measurement of left ventricular wall mass using echocardiographic techniques; and population genetic techniques examining the contribution of environment and genetics to obesity and other risk factors. In the young adults followed from childhood measures of the early atherosclerotic process is measured using non-invasive techniques including measures of coronary calcification, carotid intima media thickness, and brachial artery flow-mediated vasodilation.
