Qualifications

M.D., Medical College of Virginia, 1985.
B.A., University of Virginia, Chemistry and Spanish, 1981.

Expertise and Research Interests

My area of expertise is in functional brain imaging with single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) of cerebral perfusion. I am the leading expert in SPECT imaging of cerebral vasospasm in the USA and have worked in close conjunction with interventional neuroradiology and neurosurgery to investigate the effects of the treatment of vasospasm on cerebral blood flow. I have great interest in other areas of brain SPECT application such as in stroke, occlusive cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy and other neurologic disorders.

Current projects include rest and PASAT activation brain SPECT in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and rest and activation brain SPECT in subjects with TBI undergoing HANDLE treatment.
