Expertise and Research Interests

I am interested in observational assessment of young children, particularly using a team approach. I am interested in curricular approaches that are effective with children from birth to six who have developmental problems or are environmentally at risk.In addition parenting approaches, family support issues and involvement of parents in the assessment process are areas in which I have expertise. I consult nationally on a play-based approach to assessment and intervention with young children. I also have expertise in teaching professionals to communicate with parents around educational and developmental issues. I have received numerous training grants for preparing professionals to work with young children with special needs.I am also involved in the development of parent involvement and parent education materials.Cross-departmental interests:child and family studies; early intervention with at risk or special needs.
