QualificationsPh.D., University of Colorado, English, 1984. M.A., Northwestern University, English, 1974. B.A., Colgate University, English, 1973. Expertise and Research InterestsCurrently I am under contract to edit a four volume Critical Assessments of the Brontes for Helm Information Publishers in England. The manuscript which will consist of some 200 collected essays on the Brontes will be published in 1995.After I complete that project, I intend to write a book on Virginia Woolf and Charlotte Bronte, possibly focusing on the role of the Victorian and early modern spinster. I am also interested in collecting and editing a series of essays from the English Woman's Journal of the 1860s on the status of women and education/jobs in Victorian England.Another interest is embodied in the graduate course I teach every two years, Skepticism and Faith in Victorian England. The course deals with the religious controversies-- Oxford Movement, Dissenters, Evangelicals--during the Victorian period. Finally, I have a long standing interest in teaching and doing research in London. I have frequently been there on research trips and have taught twice there for the University of Denver. I am very interested in originating an English graduate study program there, possibly a joint history/English program. My Foreign interests are:EnglandMy Cross-Departmental interests are:women's studies and literature;religion and literature;British history;British literature KeywordsCOS Keywords:Animal Husbandry, History, Research Libraries, United Kingdom.Additional Terms:Animal Care, Editing, History, Research, Research Libraries, Travel, United Kingdom, Victorian Literature, Women.Languages(Reading, Writing, Speaking)French: (Fluent, Functional, Functional) Swedish: (Functional, Functional, Fluent) Latin: (Basic, Basic, None) MembershipsBronte Society Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies Modern Language Association of America Virginia Woolf Society Previous Positions1991-1993, University of Denver, English, Associate Professor 1992, University of Denver, London Program, Director 1985-1991, University of Denver, English, Assistant Professor 1988, University of Denver, London Program, Director 1983-1985, University of Colorado, Editorial Assistant 1980-1985, University of Colorado, English, Instructor 1980-1986, Tattered Cover Bookstore, Bookseller 1974-1980, Colorado Academy, English, Instructor Publications
