QualificationsPh.D., University of Bonn, Nutrition Sciences, 2001. M.Sc., University of Bonn, Nutrition Sciences, 1996. Expertise and Research InterestsThe main interest of my group is obesity, and - more specifically - the molecular, metabolic, and cellular mechanisms by which increased adiposity is linked to disease.
One major area of our work is adipose tissue inflammation. We are interested in the cell types that infiltrate human adipose tissue, their activation status, how this affects insulin resistance and systemic inflammation.
Another area are clinical studies of the role of diet-genotype interactions in the etiology of obesity and associated metabolic disease.
