Qualifications

Ph.D., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Lactation Physiology, 1998.
M.S., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Lactation Physiology, 1995.

Expertise and Research Interests

Elucidation of mechanisms underlying hormonal regulation of mammary development

Future Research

Research efforts are focused on characterizing hormonal and nutritional regulation of mammary growth and development.

Current work includes identifying the mechanisms mediating nutritional impairment of mammary development in prepubertal heifers, and evaluating the effects of accelerated growth of dairy heifers on body and mammary growth, reproduction and lactation.

Research utilizes a variety of techniques including cell culture and functional genomics approaches.
