Expertise and Research Interests

Clinical features of the genetically determined anemias - sickle cell anemia and thalassemia - are being studied in a longitudinal manner. Possible new treatments of these disorders directed at stimulating production of HbF are being investigated.Perturbation of splenic function in sickle cell disease and other states using Normosky optical examination of circulating RBC is an ongoing study.Finally, studies of the History of American Pediatrics is a continuing interest.
