Expertise and Research Interests

I am a senior lecturer in medical sociology in the faculty of medical sciences, The University of the West Indies (UWI), Trinidad. I have been doing this particular job since 1996 (January). My other academic appointments were in the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, where I worked as a research fellow/health and family sociologist and prior to that I worked as a medical sociologist in the department of social and preventive medicine, The UWI, Mona, Jamaica. I have researched and published in many areas of medical sociology.

My main areas of research interest are issues of aging, family and health, domestic violence, and women's health.

Other Expertise

- I recently participated as a member of an interministerial team which developed a national policy of aging for Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies
- I have worked in family planning and teenage counselling in the past
- I have also conducted researchwhich was essentially in the area of sociology of women and the family
- I am at present conducting research on currrent issues in women's health in the Caribbean

Future Research

I plan to continue my research in the areas of women's health and issues of aging.
