Expertise and Research Interests

I am a clinical child neurologist with laboratory research interests in neurotoxicology. My research program concerns the effects of toxicants on nervous system development. In particular, I am studying the teratologic effects of toluene and environmental tobacco smoke.

I am also involved in several collaborative projects. The most significant project has involved biochemical and molecular studies of patients with the inherited disease pyridoxine (vitamin B6)-dependent seizures. I have established a national registry for patients with this uncommon disorder.
