Expertise and Research Interests

Dr. Theresa L. Carroll's area of nursing practice and research is nursing administration. Dr. Carroll has conducted a Delphi Study to determine what Leadership Skills and Abilities women will need to succeed as leaders in the 21st Century in Houston. Dr. Carroll has received extramural funding to investigate the characteristics of nurse managers, explore the human experience of job loss among nurse executives and nurse manager, and received funding to implement and evaluate a nurse managed wellness clinic in a HUD funded independent living facility for elderly people in an inner city neighborhood. Dr. Carroll has also explored the issues related to the new graduate's adjustment to the hospital work world. As an officer and member of the Council on Graduate Education for Nursing Administration, Dr. Carroll has presented her research both nationally and internationally.
