Lecturer: Urban Geography, European Geography, Latin American Geography, and Risk Management. Author of Zipf's Law of Cities (http://ceita.emich.edu/gsc). Co-author of EnDURE: an agent-based model to simulate urban disaster recovery.

Current focus is on geospatial analysis of urban environments with special reference to modeling disaster recovery.

Skills include contract negotiation, consensus building, and program development under difficult circumstances. As ERIM Senior Applications Scientist and Program Manager, designed and managed environmental training and technology transfer programs.

Other Expertise

Future Research

Apply principles of economics and remote sensing/gis technologies to spatial analysis of evolving urban "systems of cities" in the United States and Asia.

Industrial Relevance

Urban economies in developed and developing countries are evolving rapidly in very specific ways -- irrespective of public policies and economic factors. I help corporations and investors understand and anticipate the dynamics of the urban environments they are facing. More than technology, this requires knowledge of both the information content and application processes of globalization and urbanization.
