Expertise and Research InterestsEvaluate crop responses to climate change factors (temperature, water, UV-B and nutrient) and identify plant characters tolerant to abiotic stresses. Adapt CROPGRO model to forages. Indentify abiotic stress specific remote sensing signals of crop plants at leaf, canopy and landscape level. Develop spectral algorithms for improving crop models. Other ExpertiseExperience to conduct experiments under field, greenhouse and growth chamber conditions. Crop species studied and stydying include Cotton, Peanuts, Rice, Soybean, Corn and Sorghum. Use of remote sensing and plant physiology equipment such as spectroradiometers and LI-COR 6400. Statistical packages - SAS, GENSTAT etc. RS and GIS software - Arc View, ENVI, ERDAS etc. Future ResearchIdentifying stress specific signals for water and nutrient stresses. Study interactive effects of UV-B with temperature, CO2 and water on cotton physiology. Responses to climate change of C4 and C3 grass species native to South-central region. Industrial RelevanceIdentify spectral signatures to develop sensors for use at field scale.
