Expertise and Research Interests

In my current role as Associate Director for Information Services at the Sheps Center for Health Services Research, I hope to build more comprehensive health information systems. Emerging information technologies make communication with the world easier than ever before. Using desktop computers anyone can tap into the Information Superhighway. I would like to enlarge and enhance public health's role in public education and dissemination of information to patients and practitioners.I am currently working with AcademyHealth to maintain a database of ongoing research projects in the field of health services research. The database, HSRProj, contains information gathered from both public and private funding sources. HSRProj is mounted at the National Library and is available through NLM. The results and findings from health services research represent valuable information that can be used to address problems ofaccess, cost and quality of health services. Also, I am the librarian for the RTI-UNC Evidence-based Practice Center.
