Future Research

Our future research will focus on (1) placental arginine-dependent nitric oxide and polyamine syntheses in pigs, (2) hormonal and nutritional regulation of the synthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin, an essential cofactor for nitric oxide synthases, in endothelial cells; (3) role of arginase expression in cell proliferation and angiogenesis; and (4) biochemical development of amino acid metabolism in fetal and neonatal intestine.

Industrial Relevance

Our work is relevant to pig production, fetal and infant nutrition support, drug development, and treatment of cardiovascular disorders.
